Emmons P/P Split Coil Wiring Question

Post by chris ivey »

i've moved my emmons split coils to another emmons. i thought i wired it up the same as it was, but c6 isn't working. is there a picture/diagram anywhere on the net i can go to to check the wiring?
what function does the big green capacitor/diode/whatever-it-is serve? i noticed it was in a different position on my split coils than it was on my single coils?
i switched the toggle/bypass switches along with the pickups since it's a bypass on the single and a fat/thin on the split.i guess i may also have to switch the tone pots also if the taper is different.

I can snap you a picture of split coil
wiring from the factory if that will help.

OK....check your email a little later
today. As you've probably figured,
the switch normally bypasses the tone
control. With the split coil wiring,
that same switch taps the coil.
There is no way to bypass the tone control.

Emmons sent me a sheet that had three wirng layouts: Normal D-10 single coil wiring; Split coil D10 wiring; and single neck single coil wiring. Give them a call or I can fax it to you.
My split coils have been rewired so that the tone pot is now a volume control. Now, I control the tone at the amp, by switching the pickup between 13.5K or 20K, or by picking closer or farther from the bridge and a few other techniques to create different tone -- mostly bad, by the way.
