Nsh 400, TransTube Fex w/ dedicated pre-amp ????

Post by forrest klott »

Hey, maybe one of you guru's out there can answer this for me.

Would running a separate pre-amp, such as a Walker or Evans with a TransTube Fex give me any more volume when running into the power-amp in on the back of the amp, vs. just running the TTFex into the back???? With just the TTFex, it doesn't seem to have enough gain to get up to a suitable volume to play gigs thru. Please keep in mind that I've asked my Tele player to turn down already, and finding a new band isn't an option. I get awesome tone for low volume stuff thru the pwr-amp in, but it don't cut the mustard live.

Any help/advice you guys can give would be appreciated as to your own experiences if you have a rig like this.

Thanks,

Skeeter

Use two Nashville 400's . . .
. . . or just buy my MosValve. It'll knock the back wall out of a gymnasium. Image

Larry, just making sure I've explored all options. Image

Even when I did use two, I still had problems.

Forrest, I just got a Tubefex, and like it a lot. The input and output levels are adjustable, maybe they are set too low. Press the global button twice, to see the settings. Mine seems to have plenty of volume, into my NV400, power amp "in" plug. I'm setting the input at just 10% and the output at 50%, just for playing around the house. Also, press the global button a few more times and you come to the volume setting, I guess you want to make sure it's set at 100%, adjust that if you need to. Just change the adjustment by pressing the up and down buttons. You can download the manual from Peavey. Hope this helps.

I suspect that the various gain controls within the Transtube Fex need adjusting. If you need assistance in doing this, please consult your operating guide or your verbal operating guide.........................me. I can be reached toll free in the U.S. at 1-877-732-8391.
