Profex II help needed
I turned on my amp and profex at church tonight and it was like it had to warm up before it worked. I took the cords out of the amp and all played well. put the profex back in with different cords still nothing. I left it on and it did come on after about 3 or 4 min. Turned it off and it did the same thing. Any suggestions or does it go to the shop.

Could be a number of things. I have found a few lately with power connector problems. Actually the worst is the end on the wall wart. The hole inside does not make good contact at times. I have had to replace the ends on several supplies.
I doubt the probelm is related to the memory battery (unless it has leaked and caused circuit board damage). Open the top and take a look inside to be certain. Just six screws (one front and reaer and two on each side) to remove the top.
[This message was edited by Ken Fox on 08 June 2003 at 07:12 PM.]

I totally agree with Mike, it needs a tech to look at it! I would look at having the battery replaced, a possible version upgrade and even the mod while it is back there. They are a very nice unit and well worth the small investment you will make. You cannot beat Peavey's service and rates!
I have a Profex with an older version (ver 1.1)and I have the upgrade coming from Peavey. I do not think it is proper to quote the price here??? I can say it was a lot less than $20.00, and that included freight.

Ken Fox, how can I tell what version my ProFex II is, and if there is an upgrade available for it?

While powering up, look at the lower right hand screen, the verson number will be displayed. I am not totally certain, but I think the last version was 1.4??? Maybe Mike will could tell us
Yes, Peavey has a kit to upgrade the audio IC chips to the newer Burr Brown Chips, by Texas Instruments. Give Mike a call at Peavey Customer Service, he can help you out with that, a newer version (if needed) and any other concerns you might have!

Actually Mike, I was referring to the version upgrade. The cost of both is a bargain. I cannot buy the Burr Brown chips at wholesale and freight for what Peavey offers them for! Just another example of Peavey's large buying power and customer service commitment!
Not to get on soapbox here, but not one musical instrument company comes to mind with such great service and customer commitment.
