What are the best IC's for Nashville 400?
I have a 1983 Nashville 400s amp that needs some cleanup, so I am looking into replacing all the IC preamp chips, which are all 4558's, if memory serves me well. Does anybody know what the best low noise, wide bandwidth replacements might be and the best source to get them online?

Hartley Peavey views our parts, service and customer service divisions as "service after the sale". These divisions do make a profit, and everybody who owns a business knows that you have to make a profit in order to remain in business. But, making a profit and making a "killing" is two different things and it depends on how your company is managed that determines this. Since day one, Hartley has reinvested profits to purchase new machinery, invest in R & D, etc.etc., instead of borrowing money for future projects that may or may not be profitable. Peavey Electronics, Architectural Acoustics and Media Matrix are all under the ownership of Hartley Peavey and there are no board of directors who make decisions on what direction the company should pursue in the marketplace. He makes all of the company decisions concerning our products.
So, the intent of our introduction of our steel amp mod kits a few years ago was to offer this "service" to our customers who wish to update there amps. The idea is not hard to understand, but we didn't want to ask that our customers spend hundreds of dollars for a kit to accomplish this. Some have commented that after installing these kits, that "this is what the amp should have sounded like when it was originally introduced". But, everyone's tastes concerning sound changes through the advancement of sound products. At the time that the Nashville 400 was introduced, it "was" state of the art. Peoples' taste in sound changes with the advancement in sound technology. If you think about it, musicians are going to be reluctant to admit that they paid $99.95 for a mod kit if they could have paid $29.98 for the same kit instead.
Anyway, its something to consider if you wish to update your amplifier with a mod kit from Peavey. As always, I can be reached toll free at 1-877-732-8391 from 8am-5pm CST weekdays.
