Pots for Pedals

Post by Stephen Gambrell »

OK, I know there's lots of dinosaurs that haven't switched to Hilton pedals (yet). Is there another brand(besides Clarostat)of pot that works as well, or maybe even better? I hear complaints about new Clarostat pots being noisy, and I'm gonna have to change one soon, so has anybody found anything else?

Yeah, the original Ohmite CA5041 is still available. It's what everybody used BEFORE the Allen Bradley pots became popular. I've been promising to send one or two to Seymour to evaluate, but keep forgetting. Maybe this'll get me to dig one out and send it.

Chick:

I did some research on the ohmite pot and what I found says it's a linear taper. Isn't that what we need to stay away from?
I had a 500k pot off of an old Dearmond pedal, but I must have tossed it. It might have been an ohmite.
The ohmite's are a lot cheaper, tho. I found a source that sells them for $13.50.

I've tried the newer Ohmite's & they ain't
the same as the originals. They're now
linear taper & their quality is hit or miss.
Some new ones were scratchy right out of the
package.
