Korg DTR-1 repair?

In October I purchased a used DTR-1 and I think it is a great tuner. However, a couple weeks ago it stoped working. So I call Korg and get a service center near me. It happened to be my good friend Ronnie Neighbors at Hot Springs. I shipped it to Ronnie for repair. Problem is Korg doesn't make parts for this tuner. If you bought it new and have a receipt and warranty card they will give you a new replacement(if it falls in the 1 year warranty). Does anyone know of someone who may be able to fix this tuner? Has this situation happened to anyone else? This is an expensive piece of equipment just to throw away. Just letting you guys know. I would really like to get it fixed. It's just so handy in the rack. Thanks in advance for your response.

It's possible that the solder connections fractured on the Input Jack.

Did you try the other input jack?
(there's front and rear jacks)

Since you had it looked at, this is probably not the problem.

I mention it because I have seen this problem on DTR1's.

Tim , I had my brother repair a dtr1 tuner that i,d boughten new but not working from musiciansfriend clearance center here in K.C. Mo. after bottle of tylenol and new pair glasses he found the problem. their was one whole side of a 4 sided IC that had not been soldered at all by robot. korg does,nt sell dtr1 model anymore they,ve changed it to dtr1000 i think. these dtr1 tuners have micro componets and micro circuitry. thats why it,s not cost effective for repair centers to try and repair them. they just replace whole circuit boards. they don,t cost them that much compared to paying service tech bench time to fix it.if units completely dead have you checked to see if internal fuse is blown? if time,s not real important factor i,m sure i could get my brother to take a look at it. I tryed fixing mine myself but had to finally send it to my brother he,s electronic tech in family .but i try. let me know if i can help. James

I recently repaired one for a friend. The input jack was broken (tripped over the cord!!). I could not locate the part on the net. I looked in my Mouser catalogue and found the exact jack for sale there!

It won't even power up. I just hear a slight hum when I put my ear next to it. It was working perfectly. It hasn't been dropped or banged around at all.

unfortunately these korg tuners are pricey. considering how easily they can quit without warning. it,s probably just open solder joint or joints. finding them as small as the circuitry is real problem. mine would,nt do anything when i,d first bought it. then after months of sitting under the bed. my son said he,d accidently droped it. did,nt hurt it but it would buzz like a stuck relay when you first turned it on. that prompted me to send it to my brother to look at it. even with his extensive repair back ground and no knowledge of a working tuner. he was able to find and repair missing solder joints. you need 5X or larger magnifier and good lighting and good eyes . good luck hope you can get it fixed . Tim, as I told you I have been on lookout for another DTR 1 for my second rack but now I have become much less interested in buying one. I think it might be a good idea to let Mack see if his brother can fix it or send it to Ken Fox. I betcha he can fix it and he seems to be always willing to help when he can.
