NV 1000 and NV400 together

NV 1000 and NV400 together

I tried connecting both of these amps through the two "out" jacks of my Hilton volume pedal and got a lot of hum. Is it ok to connect these amps in this way or is there some better connection scheme I should be following? When I connect one or the other there is no hum at all.

You must lift the ground on one amp only.
