ART vs Profex II MIDI foot controller

Does anyone know whether the ART X-15 Ultrafoot MIDI controller can be used instead of the Peavey foot controller with a Profex II multi-effects preamp? The Profex II manual says "an 8 pin DIN cable, not the standard MIDI cable is required." Would there be any unforseen problems using the ART X-15 in place of the Peavey controller? Thanks, Steve
