An unwanted clicking sound

Post by Rich Weiss »

Not sure if this should be under Pedal Steel, or Electronics. I just now noticed that when I push either of my outside knee levers, I get a clicking sound. It's not a mechanical noise, I can hear it through the pickup and it's noticeable. It's a distortion that occurs every time I engage either of these two outside knee levers. Oddly, it stays quiet when I use my inner knee levers and floor pedals. I use a Hilton pedal and I have an XLR-16 pickup. The click is audible when I record. I never noticed this before so I don't know if it just started. I put aluminum foil under the pedal, it didn't help. Any ideas?

Have you consulted an orthopedist?

See if any of your knee lever linkages are touching the pickup wires or neck switch when activated. Also check the tightness of the output jack nut and the integrity of the solder joints.

Thanks for the e-mail Kenny. You gave me a lot to think about. I think Jim got it right. When I pushed the pickup wire back, it seemed to get better. thanks.
[This message was edited by Rich Weiss on 23 February 2003 at 06:43 PM.]
