Campbell Bros. Organ sound.

Post by Travis Bernhardt »

Does anybody know what the electric guitar player from the Campbell bros. uses to get his live organ sound? I thought it was pretty good.

He plays a MIDI'd guitar, so I suspect that the Hammond sound is coming from his synth.

Midi, eh? Damn. I was hoping it would be just a pedal or something.

I don't know the sound you heard, Travis, but if you want to follow-up with a question about getting a good Leslie sound, the best I've heard is the Hughes & Kettner Rotosphere. Far less versatile, I get a surprisingly decent throb from my Pod 2.

Right. The H&K Rotosphere is the best Leslie emulator I've found.

But, as far as I know, there's no way to get the Hammond drawbar sound without MIDI. I lust after it, but not so much that I'm willing to go MIDI with my steel rig, or carry a keyboard around.

To hear some great Hammond sounds, pick up the CD called The Word (Ropeadope Records 93046-2). John Medeski uses the drawbars like no one I've ever heard.
