Profex ll Battery

I am getting a warning that my Profex Battery is going dead.I found it but I haven't figured out how to change it.Will the Profex function okay with the Battery dead? I know I will lose my saved settings but I have the cach card with them that I am now using.

Typically you will have to reinitialize every time you power up with a dead or missing battery. The battery can also leak and cause curcuit board damage. Get it changed or change it yourself. Here is a copy of a post I did earlier on the battery change out, keep in mind I was not a drinking man until I took on one of these batteries!

Well it is easy after the first one! You can get the battery, freight free, from Peavey Parts. Here we go:
-Remove the six screws that hold the top on
-Remove the top
-Remove all the screws that hold the bottom pan on, including the small machine screws on the bottom of the pan (they hold the circuit board to the pan bottom)
-Pull the bottom away from the circuit board.
-You are left with a PC board and the front and rear control panels at this point
-The battery is best removed with a low wattage (20 watt) iron or a temperature controlled iron (at 750 degrees). Use solder-wick to remove as much solder as you can, do not overheat the traces!!!
-Reach under the board and grasp the battery, pull up on the end that has one leg while heating the other side of the board with the iron. Wiggle the battery slightly and pull the one end out of the board. Repeat this for the other end of the battery (two legs on that end to do)
-A drink of whiskey is in order at his point! If you are not a drinking man, this may be a good time to start.
-Clean us the board with acetone or denatured alcohol. Worst case, use isopropal alcohol. Do not mix these up with the whiskey.
-Insert the new battery in the board and bend the tabs over with your fingernail or a small screwdriver.
-Re-solder the battery, taking care not to overheat the traces or run the traces together with the solder.
-Cleaned the soldered area with above cleaner, do not waste good whiskey for this job!
-Reassemble in reverse order.
-Reinitialize the unit.
-Install your favorite patches, as you lost them all while drinking whiskey and putting in the battery.

Thanks Mike,I called Peavey today and talked to Max he told me if I couldn't get it fixed right away to cut the battery out.I did and it works fine,I'll use the cache card till I get home then I'll send it to Peavey for a new battery.
Peavey is very lucky to have someone like you working for them Mike thanks for being there.
