Amp wieghts

Post by Hap Young »

Has the makers of amps such as Pevey, Evans,Webb, etc. entertained the idea of making the cabinets out of CFC to help keep the weight down on there amps. Us oldies need all the help we can get.
[This message was edited by Hap Young on 23 December 2002 at 08:29 AM.]

[This message was edited by Hap Young on 23 December 2002 at 08:31 AM.]

uh oh . . .

I rather doubt it. Might be cost prohibitive. How much extra would you pay for 10 or even 20# lighter? Several hundred dollars?????

I have an old Ampeg VT-22 that weighed 157# before I put in the EVL's. It stays in the house.

I guy I knew was once experimenting with a different material. Don't know what it was for (construction or something), basically it was like a square Sono tube made of masonite(but much tougher). You could just cut it to the desired height, add a top and bottom. Wonder if it ever worked out...
