Military Microphone Knowledge?

Post by Carter York »

Hi y'all,

I just won an auction on ebay for a 'vintage' military microphone, and wondered if any of y'all might know something (or anyone that might) about it. All of the info I have is what is below:

MILITARY MICROPHONE.MANUFACTURED BY RAP INDUSTRIES, INC JULY 1964 MIL-B-131D CLASS1, P/N 5965-669-BB04

Any info would be appreciated, thanks!!
(I don't have a pic, sorry)

Carter, normally, these microphones are usually designed for speech only, so they have a very poor frequency response. They are designed to be very rugged and dependable, so fidelity and sensitivity aren't big considerations. They're good for voice communications over a radio...like a CB or ham-radio set.

However, the mil number you gave (mil-b-131) is for vapor paper, which is used as a protective wrapping.
