New PEC pot works great.

Post by John Lacey »

Over the weekend got a friend to install a Canadian made PEC 500K ohm pot in my Emmons PU. Works just great, very smooth and linear and more poop than the Clarostat. Actually had to turn down the GX-700 by a few notches. The best part? It cost $8.00 Canadian, about $5. American. Paul Franklin Sr. uses them in their volume pedals. Right, Paul?

John, are you talking about the tone pot on your Emmons or a volume pedal pot? Image

As for the GX-700, how do you have it connected? I go from my guitar directly into the GX input (I run my volume pedal in the effects loop of the GX) and have to keep the input turned all the way down to keep from overdriving it.

Hi John.A little confused as to what you use it in,but I'm assuming it's the volume pedal. If so,that's great news. It's always tightened my cheeks to pay $45 for a pot that we used to get at Electrosonic for about $8.00.Please post all the info you have. And all my best to you. Rusty

those EJ or something like that on the Allen Bradley/Clarostat pots are junk, I found the regular 500K pots Clarostat regular ones at Newark Electronics, they last forever, but the price keeps going up, probably close to twenty bucks by now, I bought a supply so haven't had to buy any in years

Just to clarify matters, it was my volume pedal pot. Here's the details. I got it from B&E Industrial Electronics in Calgary and the pots are made in Canada. Here's the address and details.
