Tubefex???
Last night while practicing. My tubefex cut in and out 3 times then there was nothing. I bypassed the tubefex and the headphone amp and ear monitors worked fine. When plugged into the tubefex I see that it is recieving the signal but there is no sound (output). I tried the right and left 1/4 outputs but still nothing. I even tried the xlr outputs as well, nothing. Is it cooked or are there any suggestions out there?
Thanks in advance.

Is this common to any preset? Check to see if signal is obtained through the back input jack. I'm thinking that you have a defective input jack. If so, the input jack part number is #71466222 and can be obtained through our Parts Department here at Peavey. They can be reached at (601)483-5365 or at parts@peavey.com
You may also contact me toll free and perhaps I can help further. I need a bit more information from you. I can be reached at 1-877-732-8391, toll free in the U.S..

Mike, I believe the front jack has a shorting contact that routes the input to the back jack. If this front jack contact is bad, no input will work at the rear. I replaced one of the front jacks on a Tubefex several months ago with that same problem. As the front jacks get a lot more use, this is understandable. Not a repair for the weak or timid! You have to get the whole circuit board out! While it is out, change the battery! On a Transtubefex, the jack is more friendly, its on its own little sub board that comes out easily. The battery change in a Transtubefex is also the toughest to do, but with patience can be done. Once I figured out the first one, I could do it in less than 20 minutes now, including reloading the presets.
Andy, judging by your description (headphone jack, etc) it sounds like you have a Transtubefex. As you are getting signal indicated, I doubt you have a bad jack. As Mike said, is it perculiar to a preset?
[This message was edited by Ken Fox on 11 October 2002 at 08:53 AM.]

Hi Ken,
Its a headphone amp not jack. 100% its a Tubefex. When the guitar is plugged in as always, and I play a note I can see the small signal light working top right hand corner of the control screen, but there is no output volume (dead)
As you were saying if the front jack is shot the L/R outputs will not work?????
Thanks Andy

No, not at all. The rear input jack is dependant on the front jack contacts being closed. The fact that your getting signal makes me think you have bigger problems than a jack. Did you re-initialize it yet? You will lose yours settings if you do. Have you got them on a card or in a computer? That would be one thing to try before sending it to Peavey for repair. They do a great job! If you send it in, have them check and/or replace the memory battery. Ask Mike Brown, he'll help you out on getting it back there and keeping an eye on it for you!
Also, the new NiMh batteries they use are less likely to "gas" on you.
