Holy Grail reverb?

Post by Chris Brooks »

A friend mentioned this Electroharmonix stomp-box reverb. Has anybody used it? Comments?

Peavey's work great. Fender is making their stand-alone tube reverbs again...they always sounded great...only about $200. Waaay better than the stomp. Last you a lifetime.
[This message was edited by Jeff Peterson on 02 October 2002 at 06:29 PM.]

I recently got one. It has three settings, spring, hall, and flerb (which is an effect)
I like the spring setting best. I've only used it to record, but I will be using it live Friday night. I loaned it briefly to Chas, and I haven't spoken with him yet, but I understand he thinks it colors the tone too much when in the chain,(but not turned on) Is that right, Chas? I also loaned it to Greg Leisz and listened to him play through it on his Emmons, using an Evans amp. It sounded very nice. (but everything Greg plays sounds very nice) It's a good deal for less than a hundred bucks. (on E-bay) Well worth it, I think.

Can't complain about the price. It made a noticeable change in the tone of the guitar, which may or may not be an issue for everyone. I'll cop to being neurotic about that stuff and if I spent some time with it I could probably dial it in. What I liked about it was that it didn't have the reverb flutter normally associated with inexpensive reverbs.

I like spring reverbs, which also alter the tone in a way that I think enhances the guitar, Bovine disagrees, so there you have it, talk to 5 guys, get 5 different answers/opinions.

I have one of these and I like it a lot. But then I don't use reverb very much. And I also am not crazy about spring reverb. It doesn't sound as good as my expensive lexicon, but way better than anything else I have tried.

Danelectro's got a "Spring King" reverb
unit with an actual spring in it. It's
probably about 50 bucks more.

Has anyone tried the Little Lanilei reverb pedal
My brother knows the guy that makes these, I could get a deal on one, but haven't tried it out yet.
