Lawrence 705's vs. 710's

I have 705's on my Franklin and wondered how different the 710's would sound? I saw Randle Currie last night and he had 710's on his Franklin and it was sweet

I have used both and I like the 710's as you get a cleaner string separation. I have notice the Zum Guys are using 910's on the alum neck guitars. I have just installed 910's on an MCI and it has a wonderful tone.
(replaced 705's).

I love the sound of the 705's. They're hard to beat. The closest I have come is the 910.

I am replacing my 710's with 910's on my Franklin, as soon as they arrive! Looking forward to a sweeter, smoother sound, although the 710's are also great sounding pick-ups, the 910's seem to be becoming pretty popular here around Nashville! "Big John"

I prefer the 705 to the 710 on my Franklins. I frankly don't get the concept of 'string seperation'. Actually, I understand the concept, but don't understand why that would necessarily be a good thing, unless you had a guitar in which one or more strings tended to be lost in chords.

I talked with BW about this 705 and
710 topic, and remember him saying that the
Franklin guitar is not to bright and not to
dull in its tone which makes the 710 a good
choice, The 710 is a brighter pick-up than
a 910, The 910 is better on guitars that are
brighter in nature,
I have 705's on my Franklin and think its
fine the way it is, I can't remember if he said the 710 is brighter than the 705, but
its construction is alnico where as the 705
is a dual blade set-up, If I had another
Franklin I would most likely have 710's just
for the different sound,
On the live recording "On The Night" Dire
Strait" , Paul had 705's , its a great tone,
So John if you want a smoother tone, the 910
PU should do the trick, Keep us Posted, Greg
