Profex II Problem (Me 2)

Help, I have the ProFexII with all the Goodies...(JN presets) My problem is this...My INPUT LEVEL Knob is at about 3 O'Clock, as my OUTPUT is WIDE OPEN at 12 O'clock.
I have tons of CLEAN power when I need it, BUT when I clip it, My amp will Distort for a moment or too.
It MIGHT Be the 1/4" input CORD, but I checked that...Is it possible I need a NEW battery in the ProFex?
I have had this unit 5 years now.
ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED.
ONE MORE QUESTION...
I just purchased a NEW Peavey "TRANSFEX PRO 212 AMP...Can I initalize this amp with my Jeff Newman RAM cartrige?
I would like to put the "HUGHEY 1" & 66 Emmons preset on this new KILLER AMP

Hi Ron, they had this very problem on the forum a week or two ago...the problem is caused by over-riding your amp...cut your volume knobs back on the profex and turn up your amp...I keep both of mine around 6:00...some times I will turn my front control up to 3/4 during a gig.. it want hurt to give that a try......tom

Just wanted to let you know,
The Profex is cracking up still.
At first last night, I did EXACTLY as you said, and things souned CLEAN, REAL CLEAN and PURE...(ACCEPTING TONE, as Ol' Bobby Seymore would say)
But , later on in about the 3 set, The ol' Profex had had enough, so it started CRACKING UP again.
I guess I will send it to Mike Brown at Peavey to restore and replace and do the Ol' maintience thing to it. But, my other question has not been ansered yet,
Can I down load my new "TRANSFEX PRO 212 Amp with my CASHE 33 card with the Jeff Newman presets?
I would think that I can, but want to be sure.

The input of a Profex will clip audibly (and very nasty) when the red lite is not even visiable! Try turning that input to 12 oclock and turn the amp on up! I have seen this more than one time! It usally just the input being over driven.

Ken is correct in stating that the input of the Profex II can be overdriven. The best thing that I can recommend is to decrease the input level and increase the volume on your amp.

To answer your second question, yes, you can load the Newman presents into the Transfex Pro 212 amp. Please understand that this amp was originally designed for six string electric, but it may sound good to you for steel guitar. Try it out and let us know and thanks for using Peavey products!

By the way, I recommend that you have a qualified tech to change that battery at this time as well. Five years for that battery is approimately the average life.

I will be sending my ProFex to you soon, Mike, and have you replace the battery, and clean the controls, ect. Soon as I have enough MOOOLLAAA!

I also had this problem but corrected it by adding an additional Input jack (shorting type) on the back of the profexll and connected a 22mf@25 volt cap to the input of the second stage of the first chip Between (C706)and (R707),When I plug into the back it disconnects and bypasses the first stage and will except any preamp output (in my case a cutdown session 500 modified to fit in my rack) without distortion.
Worked for me and the tone is much more natural with out the added gain of the first stage.

Ron, I think that you will find our rates are surprisingly reasonable. Our labor rate is $36.00 per hour. It probably wouldn't take that but one hour if that is the only problem with your Profex II.
