Best delay for ...
I am looking for a delay sound that guys like Chet Atkins and Buddy Emmons used to get using an Echo-plex. Is there anything out there than can duplicate that kind of wet, distant type, of delay. Thanks

The Line 6 delay modeler is pretty cool but it converts your whole signal to digital and then back to analog. If you're really serious about getting a modern emulation of an Echoplex, look into the SIB Echodrive. It's a big red pedal with a preamp tube in it and the delay circuitry, though digital, emulates the quality and character of a tape delay. Not only is this box cool for getting the classic Chet/Buddy delays but the fact that the guitar signal passes thru a tube circuit only and preserves the analog signal, makes it even more special. No solid state in the guitar path, only in the delay circuit. You can control the tape head record level to even get that warm fuzzy echo. It's also like an Echoplex in that subsequent echos lose their fidelity each time it repeats. Just as if it were being re-recorded back to the tape as in the Echoplex. I love this box even with the echo mixed all the way off because it's an incredible tube preamp and guitar pickups love to see tubes. If you use a passive (pot) volume pedal, place this thing right after it and you have the smoothest of smooth sounds.
