Steel guitar Cabinet for Mike Brown

Post by Chuck McGill »

Peavey is the obvious choice for this. I listen to my steel for practice through studio monitors. Why can't we have a cabinet
larger, with greater power handling, bi-amp
power and smooth studio monitor type components for live. Maybe a PX 300 on steriods. This would be wonderful for all the
players with preamps. With your digital power amps and
speaker technology Peavey can do this.

We can definitely design this type of speaker cabinet. As a matter of fact, our powered Impulse PA cabinets are configured in a bi-amped manner and they sound very good. However, the question is "how many could be sold?". As stated many times previously, the steel guitar market is relatively small and is not expanding at a rapid pace. As a steel guitarist myself, we need to take every opportunity to expose the steel guitar to other musicians as well as the public.

Your idea is "do-able", but our past experience tells us that it would not be a profitable venture. Public address enclosures sell very well and most all performers require a sound system to be heard. Not every band/venue has a steel guitar in their band. Good thought though and I'll pass it along.

Thanks for the reply Mike. We are trying to
expand what we do in Jackson, Tn. @ the Bandstand. You will find a few steels and lap
steels, along with Dobro resonators. Of course the Nashville 1000 and PX300 are in
stock now.
