Emmons (push pull) electronics
A very good friend of mine has a problem with his 70 something Emmons.
The E9 neck sounds great but the C6 neck sounds very "muddy", I suggested he check the pickups with a multimeter, which he did and the result was, C6 neck=18.66 OHMS, the centre position= 18.66 OHNS, and the E9= 1 OHM, can anyone tell me what the readings should be, or suggest a reason or cure for this problem.
Many thanks
Dave.

Hard to suggest anything just yet. Those readings your friend got are just plain wrong. Use a digital multimeter, and the readings should be between 18k and 22k ohms (that's 18,000 and 22,000). Unhook the pickup wires, and then measure each pickup separately. Also...tell us if the tone control is working properly on the E9th.
If it's not a pickup that's bad, it could be the tone circuit has a short, or wiring problem.

Thanks Donny, The readings were obtained on a didital multimeter, and it would appear that the tone circuit is perfectly OK. He lives a good way from me so it's all done by e-mail. He says the wiring looks absolutely original. I shall e-mail him today and suggest he check the pickups individually as you said.
Cheers for now
Dave.

Check the distance from the strings to the pickup. Might be the cause of the differences. (I'd match the other one to the good sounding one.
