Stomp Box Reverb - Thanx to Ricky Davis

I just wanted to post my thanx to Ricky for the RV-3 settings tip. Awhile back after reading the suggestions of what to get, I went with an RV-3, & Ricky was kind to post a setting to try. Yeah! Goodness, that's definitely a great sound to start with & proceed from. In my case, the idea to go with an RV-3 was in a live setting if I got put next to an aggressive drummer again which had my reverb springs doing a serious song & dance.

In case anyone else is interested, the settings are:
Balance - 8-9 o' clock
Tone - 11 o' clock
Rev. time - 2 o'clock
Mode - eleven (knob all the way over)
Works for me!

Hey Rex; that's great to hear pal. I'm glad that works for you; as I posted before I had the same problem with the Drummer and non stable stages.
But now....we have a new drummer that don't shake the stage....so I'm back to my Fender Twin Reverb tank....and re-diggin' that; but every now and then(especially overseas)when I have to use an amp other than mine......I use the RV-3 and it will make any crappy amp sound good.

Has anyone messed with just a digital delay settings alone on the RV3 - instead of delay and reverb together?

No Ron, I really hadn't bothered to try the delay section of the RV-3. I'll fool around with it. I'm noticing on another thread that's starting out as "where to position it" & starting to end up as an RV-3 "critique". On positioning; depends on the amp. If you have an effects loop, go there. If not, then pre-amp out, power amp in. If all you have is input, the stomp reverb should go after the volume pedal as I feel it would sound a little goofy cutting off reverb tails, JMHO. I happen to be a very satisfied owner of a Nshvl 1000 & on Mike Brown's suggestion I have my RV-3 at post-eq in & out. Works perfectly.
Critique: I've had rack reverbs in the past from Lexicon, TC Electronics (just to clarify, I'd run whatever beautiful people reverb I had at the time thru my TC 2290), Alesis, you name it, that could blow the RV-3 away. My quest now is back to the basics, & I intended to use NOTHING but spring reverb. But once I entered a real world gig or 2, sitting on a wobbly stage next to a drummer named BLUTO, I wanted to come up with a simple solution that would fit in my pak-a-seat. The RV-3 won out because it's not a rack mount, it's a Roland-Boss, the majority of the folks on the Forum recommended it, & now that I have it, sorta quoting Maestro Jim Cohen, it has ACCEPTABLE tone. So for me, the RV-3 is a worthy sub if the stage is unstable. But if I'm on solid ground, it stays put away & the spring reverb comes on.[This message was edited by Rex Thomas on 01 August 2002 at 06:50 PM.]

You're thinking along the same lines I am - I think I would rather use the Reverb in my Vegas 400, but was thinking of using the delay on the RV3 - I'm going to play with it a little this weekend and see what I come up with..........Thanx[This message was edited by rpetersen on 01 August 2002 at 06:53 PM.]
