Black Widow question. 1501-4 compared to 1508-4 ?

Post by Al Moss »

I'm about to order a replacement speaker and was ready to go with a BW 1501-4 and the retailer told me about a newer model BW that is the 1508-4. The 1508 has a higher power handling spec (500 watts) than the 1501 (300 watts). Anybody have any experience with the 1508 and what it sounds like in comparison the 1501?

I think the 1501s were designed for steel guitar applications. I had a couple of speaker enclosures made up and wanted to order a couple of Black Widows for them. The dealer called Peavey and they recommended the 1501s for steel guitar. Image

Yes, the 1501-4 ohm shallow basket(sb) was designed specifically for steel guitar applications. The item number for this replacement basket is #00027020 and can be purchased through your local authorized Peavey dealer.

Here is the dealer locator link from the Peavey website;http://www.peavey.com/support/dealerlocator/

OK. Thanks for the info. I look forward to getting the new 1501 installed. It'll be going into an '89 Evans amp, the Eclipse speaker has done busted.
