Lower tones on Zum with Nashville & Vegas 400's
I have a Zumsteel with a standard pickup and I play thru a Nashville 400 at home and in a country show and I use a Vegas 400 at church. I can't seem to get a lot of bass tones out of either amp with my steel but they have plenty with my Gibson 335 and my Peavey T 60. Do I need to change or pickups or is there something else I can do. Also, the reverb on the Vegas seems much stronger than the Nashville 400. Any tips or suggestions

Strange happenings here
I assume bass is full on and treble and presence between 10 and 2 oclock? Mids mellow without sounding like a box? If so, then maybe something is wrong with the pickup? Volume pedal with a 500k pot? It could be a handful of things, but you should be able to dial in plenty of lows. If there is another steel player in town have him/her plug into the amps for a comparison.

James, if the low end response of your amp is insufficient, you might want to consider installing a Peavey mod kit for your amp. Our kit will enhance the low end response safely, and also improves the overall frequency response of the amp.
The reverb pan and circuit in both the Vegas and the Nashville amps are the same. So, both should sound very similar in comparison.
If you wish for our techs to check your amp out for you, please give me a call on our toll free line at 1-877-732-8391 and I'll be glad to arrange to have your amp checked out for you here at the factory.

I'm going to back up what Mike Brown said - I installed a Peavey Mod kit in my Vegas 400 - It made a new amp out of it - I can't even run my lows wide open now. Unless you are pretty good with electronics I would recommend having a technician or Peavey do it.
