Hilton Sustain Unit

Post by John McConnell »

Anyone have any comments on the Hilton Sustain unit. I have the Hilton volume pedal and I love it, I am now considering getting the sustain unit. I would like to hear comments and comparisons. Thanks,

John, The Hilton pedal already has the sustain unit as the first stage of the electronics. This is a quote from the man who makes them. The only difference is the pedal has a set value, and is not adjustable.

John, Jim Bob is correct, the first stage of my pedal is the Digital Sustain unit. The only difference is the Digital Sustain has a variable gain. The Digital Sustain circuit in the pedal has a fixed gain value. It is my opinion that you do not need the Digital Sustain unit if you are using my pedal. Still, there are some people who use this combination, because they like the fact that they can alter their pickup signal strength in voltage and current. The Digital Sustain was originally designed by me and Doug Jernigan. We actually tested various designs of the Digital Sustain on the Grand Old Opry, when Doug was playing for Jack Green. The Digital Sustain was designed to be used with a 500K pot pedal.
My pedal has more electronics inside besides the Digital Sustain. In the pedal there is another 16 pin integrated circuit that follows the Digital Sustain circuit. People have never bought the Digital Sustain because I am a nice guy. They have bought it because they can hear a improvement in sound qaulity with their own ears. In some ways I shot myself in the foot when I put the Digital Sustain inside the pedal electronics. I sell very few Digital Sustains now, as most people buy my pedal. I hope this information helps.

Thanks for the feedback. I must say that Keith Hilton is one of the greatest. I recommend his pedal and I thank you all for the comments. If you don't have one of these pedals you are missing out.

To steal an idea from BBE's Sonic Maximizer ads, the Hilton Pedal is the best volume pedal you never heard.

If you plug your guitar straight into your amp and compare that to using a pot pedal, then switch to a Hilton, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.
