Just tried a friends Li Izzy Plus with my present set up and couldn,e believe the added power and volume I got. Can anyone tell me if this unit works like a pre amp? I wouldn't mind getting one if it does because I've always felt like the proflex II causes a power loss with my set up and this little device seemed to regain that power. Thanks.

it is an impedance matcher AND preamp...IZZY was just the imp. match, PLUS was both in one unit.

If it makes it louder, it has to be doing the job of a preamp...there's just no other way to get gain (without amplification).
