Where would be a good place to pick up a replacement battery for my tubefex. How many are required and can an electrician such as my self do it. Any info greatly appreaciated. Thanks Andy

I have a post down below with a source for the batteries. The one in the Tubefex is much harder to replace than in a Profex. Unless you are very, very skilled at circuit board repair don't attempt it. If you can't find a battery, email me. I just bought ten and have 6 left. I go through a bunch of these. If you want, send it to me and I'll change it for you (and save all your settings!). Peavey will also do the work for you, and they will update anything that needs to be done (if it's an older version). They do a super job!

Hello Andy,
The battery can be purchased from the factory and the part number is #70901721. I will e-mail you with the cost of the part.
The circuit board must be removed from the chassis, then flipped over to unsolder the leads of the battery. If the battery has leaked onto the board and other components, this must be cleaned thoroughly before replacing the battery.
Just reverse the disassembly to assemble.

Hello from Culver City, CA. Based on my own personal problems with a used tubefex that had battery problems, I would direct you to Mike Brown at Peavey and have him fix it for you. Very reasonable as compared to a local fix-it shop called Advanced Electronics..they wanted $300 to repair while Mike got the job done for under $100 with No Hassles..

Ken,
Thankyou so much for all your info and input.
The tubfex just doesn't retain its presets. If I program a patch it is fine 'til I turn the unit off. That is what makes me think it is the battery(memory). I will look tomorrow around this time and will keep you informed.
Thanks again.

Andy, that would be a good one for Max over on the Peavey forum. They are very helpful there! Usually with a low or no battery I would think the unit would come up pretty scrambled. That's how they typically come up after I change a battery in one. Let us know how this one turns out. I am glad I could help out in any way.
