Just got a Session 2000 and been trying to get a good sound of the amp alone (without extension cab).
The presets don`t sound okay to me.
I have a Profex II as well and tried to put the Profex II cartridge card in to the Session 2000....... it worked and the great sounds from my Profex made the Session 2000 come alive. Ofcourse - I have spent more time with my Profex to work out the sound.
I guess this show that you can get a good sound on a Session 2000 BUT it will take time to work it out.
Hello Dag,
Thanks for your comments about the Session 2000. I'm glad that you have gotten the chance to try one out. All of the presets that are named "Steel #--" were created in a rehearsal room in Nashville by world class players such as Lloyd Green, Jeff Newman, Hal Rugg, Johnny Cox, Paul Franklin, Stu Basore, Mike Johnson and Robbie Turner. So, there should be something for everyone to help in molding their own sound. The remainder of the presets were created by various steel playing Peavey dealers and customers.
The Session 2000, PX300 and RC2000 were a long time in the making and it is unfortunate that we had to discontinue this model because of a vendor part problem. But, there are more ideas being generated and actual products being tested for possible use in new steel amps. So, stay tuned.................

Don't overlook setting your Global settings first to your liking, if you haven't already done this. Then all of the presets will sound a lot better to you. I didn't do this and then I had to go back and reset all of the programs I had made previously. I wondered why all the settings the pro's had made sounded so bad to me.
Mike, to me this amp need time to get good settings. I guess - if the pros had time to use this amp for a while, then they would have come up with great settings. Are any of the steel players you talk about using the Session 2000 now?
Fred, good point about the global. I haven`t adjusted the global eq but will do it if a venue ask for it.
The fact that my profex settings work in the session 2000 too tells me that it`s a good way to leave the globals at "zero". Then adjust the globals if you like to get more highs, middle or lows on all programs. Your mileage may vary.
I really think this is a GREAT amp BUT you may not like it if you just plug into one. It will take a while to get it right.........now it`s time to get and check out the Nashville 1000.......
Dag,
I use the 2000 since it came out, you really need to use the PX-300 with it. it opens the door to a whole different sound, I was not inpresed with the pre sets, but, they do give you a place to start, the 2000 is a great amp, give it a little time and you'll love it, and get the PXZ -300 to go with it. I also have the 1000, I use it with my Profex11 and a px-300, the 2000 is my main set up.... good luck......
