Q---for Jack Stoner

Post by Tom Hodgin »

Jack, I am told that a "opamp" is probably bad in my n-400...the sound is fine for a set, then it disappears completely...Is now a good time to put a peavey mod in it?? instead of replacing the original opamps ???thanks,, tom

I don't know if that is a good diagnosis or not. Generally if an op-amp is going to go it goes, it's not intermittent.

You could install the mod, but you may still have the original problem after the mod is installed. Or after the mod is installed it doesn't work at all and then you won't know whether there is something wrong with the mod installation or the original problem.

It's best to get whatever is wrong fixed first. Then if you want the mod do it.

One option, if you decide to have it repaired is to send it to Peavey and have them install the mod while it's there.
