Using a Profex II and an Ibanez Analog delay both

I'm new to the Profex unit and was wondering is there a way to hook it up and also my Ibanez unit and use one or the other ? I have no foot control for the Profex unit. Thanks.

If you have the Profex II, it has delay built into it as one of the effects. Usually if someone has a Profex II they don't use another delay unit. If you want different delays, just program the Profex II for the delays in different programs and then change programs.

I have heard that some folks like to have a seperate processor for delays and reverbs. It is easier to make quick adjustments that way.

Lee----That's what I want to do . I want to bypass the Profex II and use the Ibanez and then back etc etc I was hoping the Profex II had a "dry through" but I don't see it.

The Profex II has an external effects loop program. Set it up for the external unit and patch it in to the effects loop. Then when you want to use the external unit just select that program.

Just using the Profex II as a delay or a reverb seems like a waste of a good preamp/processor unit. There are separate reverb or delay units that work better and quieter than the Profex II for those single functions.

Thanks Jack- I'm not expressing myself clear enough about using it for just that. See I still want to use my Ibanez delay unit by it's self on occassion but then I also want to utilize three or four of Newman's settings through the Profex By it's self on other occassions. Ie: get the same effect as unhooking the Profex for one song then unhooking the Ibanez for another. I want to be able to use one or the other at any time with the flip of a switch. I don't see a way to turn off the Profex other than unplugging it. It is a rack mount and I am building a box for it. I suppose I could put a plug in inside the box with an on/off switch for the Profex and then hook the Ibanez into another one. I just thought I was overlooking an easier way. Thanks for the help. The effects loop patch should work. Just have the effects loop patch as the only "effect chain" in the program. Then when you want to use the Ibanez, just select that program. The only problem with that is you'll still have the input/output electronics of the Profex II in the circuit.

The only other way would be to make your own switch box. I don't think there is a commercially built switch box that will do what you want. There are A/B switch boxes but that won't do what you want. You basically need the function of two A/B switch boxes, one to switch the input to either the Profex II or the Ibanez and another to select either the Profex II or Ibanez output. I think a four pole double throw switch would do it. Any (knowledgeable) electronics tech should be able to make one for you.
