Jim Webb

Post by Bill Taft »

About a month before the St. Louis convention I had a surprise call fron Jim Webb himself and we talked about an hour. Now when I need to talk to a dealer it's always me spending the money to call ,but not in this case. About 3 years ago I had Jim and his two female employee's which I think keeps the place going for him sit and have breakfast with me, and I was going to buy but he wouldnt stand for that he paid it all. When he called he told me I had been in his thoughts so many times he just had to call. I respect a man like that he still has the want to be the best amp builder still ,but I can tell by what he told me he was doing very little with any work. I also know if you need something get a hold of one of the girls that work for him and that will take about 1/2 the time off. He said you know Bill the only reason I even started building a good steel amp is so I could meet all the stars, and he wanted them all to play the best, Me I've had 4 and they were all good,I also play a 85 Evans I love and sometimes I use my old peaveys which are hard to beat I have a 77Session-Peavey JBL and I use two LTD"S Peavey Jbl's. Well thats my story he has always been very nice to me,but I got to thinking I have had another steel dealer who calls at least a few times a year to make sure all my gear was working well. That is Duane at a great store in Troy Mo sells fender's peavey evans emmons Mullen I always buy my electic 6 strings bass guitars and amps all my steels and all my amps from him such a great business to buy from.

You're wrong no where Tom. It is unquestionably the best and you won't find a finer person to deal with than Jim Webb. You won't be sorry at all. Yes, it's a little expensive but I wouldn't sell mine for 3x what I paid.

Hope none of you guys took me wrong about my friend Jim He is a great man and builds a wonderful amp, and buy the way I try to give my best and do my best for the Lord, so every Sunday morning and Evening I use a webb amp in church and it is fantastic. The tone and quality is there because of one reason, Jim when he started wanted to make the best steel amp in the world so he did and still doing it. We all know if you want what we consider the best you pay more for it thats just the facts of life. Jim Webb a legend of one of the best amps ever made and still doing it even though his health gets him down some he's still going at it.
Glad I can call him my friend.
