Super-light speaker

Post by Donny Hinson »

I noticed in the new 2002 Antique Electronics Supply catalog that they now carry the new "Celestion G12 Century" speaker with a Neodymium magnet. This 12" speaker weighs only 3 1/2 pounds, but boasts a SPL of 121dB @ 1 meter. I've never even seen a speaker rated over 107dB! This should prove an interesting development. It handles 80 watts RMS, and 160 peak.

(Kinda pricey though, at $230.)

Sounds great! It's about time! We are tired of carrying around heavy speakers when it isn't necessary.

They can do better. Peavey had that Neodymium Speaker for the Nashville 1000, and dropped it because it was too expensive.
It would have saved up to 20 LBs!!

Well, I would pay extra to get a good sound, but still save on weight.Guitar and amp both.

Now if only I could get a 30 LB amp equal in power and tone to a Peavey 1000, to go along with my 31 Lbs S12 Carter..Wellll..al.. Image Image
