Music Man Amplifier

Post by Michael Brewer »

Several years ago I made a huge mistake and sold my Music Man HD-115. This amp would not knock down walls but it had the sweetest sound. Recently, I was listening to some old tapes and rediscovered that sound. If anyone knows the location of one of these amps, Please let me know.

According to the Guitar Base web site, Bentley Guitar Studios in Parkville, MO has one. They're asking $595 and it looks to be in excellent condition from the photo.

TEL 816-746-9772 / FAX 816-746-1916
122 S Main Street
Parkville , MO 64152

Good luck! I had my Musicman RD-65 stolen back in the early 80s and still miss it sometimes.

Thanks much for the tip. I had a 1982 model. I have sent a fax of the 82 schematic to Bentley to see if the chassis was the same on the two amps. Mine had a 15 inch EV speaker. This one has a JBL which shouldn't make that much difference. If they confirm my request, I will probably buy it.

Thanks again,

Music man made two different series amps. the earlier models had a 12AX7a preamp tube with 6L6 power tubes. The later models had the preamp tube eliminated. The model withthe preamp tube has a "warmer sound" as stated in an article in Guitar Player magazine years ago.
