Well, my 10K pot got scratchy much faster than any old 500K. So I don't know what that means to be honest with you. I didn't have 10K pot around so I just put in 500K in there just to see what happens. Well, buffer circuit doesn't seem to do "dramatic" work like it used to do on 10K. Which kind of make sense but I don't know what's what anymore. For one thing, I'm not terribly happy with 10k business.Am I missing something? <H>

A friend bought an L10K that I had. He liked it when he first got it but had problems with the 10K pots. He lives in Michigan so he went to the Goodrich shop and they replaced the electronics one time and the pot, he replaced the pot another time. He finally got a standard 500K volume pedal pot and it seemed to be OK. Recently he bypassed the electronics and basically just has the 500K pot in the circuit and he likes the tone better now.
I had bought it but found out I didn't need it with Lawrence pickups, plus I couldn't use the "3 cord" hookup with it as it would distort. My friend had an MSA at the time and the active electronics helped it. He has since went on to a different steel that has Lawrence pickups too.

I have used one for about 3 years now and really like it. About 6 months ago I changed the battery, but I wasn't having any problems with it, I just thought it was about time.

I don't use the L10k anymore. I had an earlier version too. Both of these, I couldn't keep the electronics going. I finally bypassed the electronics and bought some 500k pots and converted both pedals to standard 500k, just like the Goodrich 120. Goodrich offered to repair my L10k, but I had already converted it. As far as the performance, I liked it. As far as Goodrich, they are great. I don't have any complaints. I just needed something that was "field" servicable. I have 2 brand new 10k pots that I will sell if anyone needs them.

I've been playing an H10K for years. The pot isn't scratchy yet. It's lasted a lot longer than any pot pedal I've used.
It works really well with most pickups on the Sierra. I'm using a regular 500K pot pedal with the Willams, though, because it matches the Lawrence 710 pickups better.
Bill Lawrence suggested that I put a 500k resistor across the output of my guitar if I want to use the H10K with his 710 or 712 pickup. Those pickups were designed for a 500K load, and the H10K pedal has a much higher impedence.
