Stage Monitors
I just switched over to a JBL wedge with a fifteen inch JBL spkr and a horn. This is a dramatic improvement over the Yamaha floor wedges I'd been using. What is your favorite stage monitor?

At the Church where I play, we have 6 JBL TR-105's with a 15" and a horn, and 2 Yamaha's with a 15" and a horn. The JBL's sound much better than the Yamaha's even though the Tr-105's are lower end units.

There is a pretty big difference between the TR and the SR series...thus accounting for the dramatic difference in price. The SR stuff is touring quality. We run 16 JBL SR cabinets in our main array. Eight of them are double 18 bass bins and eight are 2X12 with a High freq driver. The bass player is using the same SR 15 with horn that I am, but his is on the opposite side of the stage.
We have thought about in ear (ear buds)but several of the guys have zero interest in them. I personally wouldn't mind if we got rid of all stage amps and monitors and went to rack systems for individual instruments and ear buds. That is not gonna happen however, because the lead guitarist is convinced that he can get "his sound" only with a traditional amp that is miked. Heck, I run stereo into two large cab Evans, but I'm bright enough to realize that I'm at the mercy of the FOH man
I did use a Profex II into the board without the evans for about three months. The FOH guy loved it, but I missed the air moving from those speakers.

I've gotten a lot of good use out of a Peavey powered monitor (older, 100 watt model ca. 1989), has a 12" scorpion and a motorola double CDH piezo horn. Great especially for the drummer, since it has a level control and thus can be played a little higher than the other monitors on stage.
A pair would be good for mains in smaller venues.
