Going to Europe next week where they are 220v over there. I would like to take my Boss RV-3 and wondering what I need to use the adapter safely. I know I can just adapt the plug like I do on hairdryer and whatnot...but will it work?? is it safe; as I will be playing through a Amp provided over there and is 220 plug.
Any European friends can help me with this answer or any U.S. friends that have done it?Oh and I do sing also and will be stickin' my lips on a metal mic.....so of course I don't want to make my hair stand on ends as my face turns blue.
I've been over there many times; but never plugged anything extra in before.

Oh and in case I have to use my Hilton Pedal....what is the answer on that too.

Have a great time on your trip and your Opry clips were fantastic. As for the Boss pedal; I'd just use batteries while I was 'over there'. If you're going to use a 110v device like the Hilton pedal, you'll need a transformer that converts the 220AC to 110AC. Better take your Goodrich!

Like Michael said about the batteries,i'd use batteries with everything I could,
because they are at 50 cycles also, which might have a bearing on the operation of some of your effects with a/c.

I think a 9 volt will only last 3-4 hrs.

Batteries are VERY expensive in Europe. So bring a couple cases of them if you are using that Boss pedal. I bring a small transformer along with me if I am bringing gizmos to Europe. They are pretty cheap and easy to find. Bigger is better but for just a couple small gizmos you won't need much. An assortment of plug adapters comes in handy also. Although most places will have that together. Make sure you bring a good surge protector power strip to plug your stomp box and volume pedal into after the transformer. I have had a few surge protector power strips give there life to save my American effects. When 220 screws up it can really fry your gear.
I would also bring a standard volume pedal along as a back up.
One thing I was thinking is that I'll bet Boss sells the same pedals over there and they must have some sort of AC adapter ready made. You know 220 to 9volt. One thing to keep in mind is that little stomp boxes, adapters and stuff like that can be way overpriced in Europe so it is usually worth it to bring what you need from the States.

Oh yea, one more thing:
Sound guys in Europe are just as smart as the guys in the States. When they are busy screwing up the sound check they will always blame your transformer. So make sure you have it unplugged when they come at you. It will save allot of time.

I used batteries with my RV3 on our last few trips to Europe.
When the battery fails it will make a very loud white noise through your amp.
I chose to just put a fresh battery in before each set (our shows were mostly one set).
I like Bobs idea of buying a European Boss wall-wart.
I guess you'd still need an A-dapt kit for the different countries plug-in designs.

WEll I'm not concerned too much about the Hilton pedal; as I will have my goodrich pedal and will use it exclusively. But the RV-3 I have really grown to like alot; and will make any crappy amp sound good. So I do have a transformer that takes 220 to 110; and all the adapters for different countries to go along with it......."Will that work"???
I have no problem with pleanty of 9v batteries....but that is just more stuff to keep up with and find room for as space is very very limited on my part.

Thanks again everybody; Ya'll are the "BEST". I had a Best Buy gift card I forgot about and got me pleanty of 9volts with that; and the transformer will go and be a backup when I run out of those.
