Pick-up Installation

Post by Bob Miano »

Is there anybody in the New York/New Jersey area that could install a pickup for me?
I am pitiful at this stuff. Had someone do
it and screwed it up some. It's a D-10
Carter and now the E9th is on when the neck selector switch is to the left; and the C6th
is on with the switch on the left, middle
and right !
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
even a recommendation of someone who does this.
Thanks,
Bob

Check the Carter web site. They probably have a wiring diagram on there.

Bob, its sounds like they just reversed the lead wires on the selector switch..
Trace out the lead wires going to each neck and reverse them on the switch terminals..

For example, move the left lead wire to the right side of the switch terminal and right to the left..In other words switch them!!

Leave the center wire on the switch alone as this should be the one going to the 1/4" input jack..

You can also rotate the whole switch 90 degrees and do the same thing ,but your wires probably are not long enough for that..

The ground wires dosent matter and probably and should all be tied together..

Sounds like the E9 side is okay, but he soldered the C6 lead to the center terminal instead of an end terminal. Simply move the C6 lead to the terminal on the opposite side of where the E9 lead is. That's the only scenario I can think of that would fit your description.

Thanks to all for your help & suggestions.
The wonderful "CARTER" Guitar Co. put me in touch with Jon Light from Brooklyn, New York
who, aside from being a great guy, re-installed the pickup correctly.
THANK YOU JON !!!
I can go on my merry way and go back
to playing again ! WHAT A RELIEF !!
Again, Thank you !!
