Bill,The 1501-4 is an excellent speaker..I have 2 Session 500's and a Nashville 1000 with the 1501-4..I am very pleased with them all..
On swapping the pickups,You will have to take all of he strings loose, remove 4 screws and desolder/resolder 2 wires per pickup..
Its not a difficult job,but will take a little time..The destringing and restringing will take longer than swapping the pickups..

Not long ago, I replaced my Evans speaker with a new 1501-4 speaker. In my FET 500 Evans, I had to remove some wood to install the Peavey speaker. It was not just a drop in. I didn't like it as well as the orginal, so I removed it and put it in an extension speaker cabinet. I intend to buy another Peavey speaker to put in my other speaker cabinet and then get a power amp to drive them, while using an Evans preamp, and Lexicon effects unit, for a stereo rig. I have two extension cabinets I bought at the Chatanooga show, which were covered in snakeskin. I thought they looked really great, and when I find a power amp to drive them with, I will have a cabinet built to match the speakers. I also have an older Evans 500 FET, with an older Peavey speaker that sounds better than the new one with the Evans speaker, which is why I changed the new one over. I don't know why the new one didn't sound as good as the old one with the Peavey speaker. It must be a slight difference between the two amps, or the different type Peavey speakers. I would probably stay with the Evans speaker.
[This message was edited by Fred Murphy on 12 August 2001 at 05:46 PM.]

[This message was edited by Fred Murphy on 12 August 2001 at 05:47 PM.]
