How do I hook up this rack?
OK, I know I'm not the brightest bulb on the tree but I thought I could at least get my rack hooked up. I am trying to hook up a Stewart World 1.2 power amp to an Evans single pre-amp and an LXP 1 and an LXP 5 and can't figure out how. Anyone want to help me?

John Hughey would probably be the best to answer -- I believe he uses the same equipment (or pretty close to it). But I'll give it a shot. My preamp is a Digitech 2112 and power amp is a Mosvalve 500, but the principle is the same.
Guitar -- Vol Pdl -- Preamp -- LXP1(or 5) -- LXP1(or 5) -- Pwr Amp -- Speakers
Don't know if the Evans preamp has an Fx loop. If it does, you may want to try the LXP's there.

I believe the output from one of your effects units will go to the return of the Evans preamp. The send from the Evans will go to the input of the effects unit, and of course the output A and B of the Evans will go to the Stewart power amp. You will plug your guitar into the Evans amp. I don't know what you will do with the other effects unit. I believe I would use the effects unit I liked the best.

You can use the FX loops as was previously mentioned, but I simply do the following:
1) Preamp line out (left and right) to FX in (left and right) (and then out of this unit to your 2nd FX unit input as you describe)
2) FX out (l/r) to power amp in (l/r).
3) Speakers out of the amp.
Should be good to go.
Oops - I see now that this is what Larry was describing.

Mike....
Whats the difference between a LXP 1 and a LXP 5 ????
I thought they were both some kind of a pre-amp sorta like the Profex II. If this is the case and your drivin' one withe other, I can understand your distortion problem. Rack-mount stuff is hard to get adjusted for a clean signal output at first. We have to play with em' for a bit to find that sweet spot.
Look at the rack-mount setup "My Gear" at my web-page: http://members.home.net/crookwf
I had a dickins of a time gettin that one right !!

WOW!!!!! Got it hooked up and it cooks! Everything they say about Lexicon's reverb is true. This setup kicks ass like I've never heard before. No wonder John Hughey uses an LXP 1 & 5. Bill, one is for reverb and the other is for delay but you can do so much with both. I'm looking into buying an MPX 1 now. They say that they are the ultimate effects unit.

I don't know about ultimate, but I loves mine and am not shopping around for anything else. They've gotten cheaper in the last ~year or so, and I bet you could score a deal on E-Bay.
[This message was edited by Steve Feldman on 14 July 2001 at 05:52 PM.]
