Profex II help

I recently bought a used Profex II, am very pleased with it.
I play a Sho-Bud Pro II Custom through a Peavey Nashville 400. My question is; What to do with the settings on the 400? Do I null the ones that can be nulled? Do I leave the settings where I was most pleased with the guitar only? I appreciate your help in advance, Thanks, Al

Al,
The most pupular way to hook up a ProFex is to come off of the output of the ProFex amd go into the "Power Amp In" jack on the back panel of the Nashville 400. The ProFex II is also a preamp so you will completely bypass your amp controls.

Al,I come out of the profex to the regular input on my amp..I delete any EQ from the profex program and use my amp EQ just as always..I only use the profex for effects not EQ..If you can't get enough or you get to much lows ,highs etc. with just your amp,you can add more or less {suppliment} with the profex..But I have all I need with just the amp EQ..
I prefer to keep it simple,the less knobs I to have to adjust,the better

I've tried 4 different ways,,,,go in the back, go into pre-loop, go into post-loop and go into the regular jack. I tend to like the regular jack better. However, in all cases, I turn the amp reverb completely off.
I really like playing with no effects too. (just straight out of the volume pedal to the amp/s). When I do this I usually add just a small amount of reverb from the amp,,,2 to 4.

Al, Just my experience, but I would certainly go from the profex out to the power amp in. I whacked the compression on one of my Nashvilles hooking it up to the regular input on the front. The amp tech who repaired it said the profex signal was too hot for that input. I then started running my profex output at 5 on the gain. It seemed to really start working better at that point. Do a search in the Electronics sections (where this thread should be) and you will find many threads on this very same subject, as it seems to come up about once a month.

The Profex II (and the newer TubeFex/Transtube Fex) is a Preamp/Effects Processor. It is designed to be the preamp/EQ/Effects unit and to drive a power amp directly. With this in mind the "preferred" hookup is directly to the power amp in when used with a combo amp.

I'm using the ProFex II with my Session 400 amp, which has no "power amp in" connection. I think it works best in this order: guitar to the Profex input, Profex output to the volume pedal, then to the input on the amp. I set the input level of the Profex low, at about 10 o'clock on the dial, the rear output level is also set low, about 8 o'clock on the dial. The low, mid, high, shift and pressence on the amp are straight up, reverb/tremelo is off, I change the sensetivity as desired. I control the volume with the amp volume control. I think that this setup keeps a low level signal into the amp, and sounds good.

I plug my pro Fex 2 into the back of my nashville 400 and into the back of my bandit 75 amps.You should hear the sound I get it is perfect.Everyone that hears it loves it and wants to know my set up.
