Fender Stage 160 Watt Amp

Does anybody know about this amp? Would it be suitable for steel? It is currently available in stores. Any reviews on it?

If you mean the Stage 112SE, I have one. It's no longer made but there are current similar models. It's a single 12" speaker, all transistor, quite small and light. It's actually 100 watts - it only delivers 160 watts when another speaker is added, although what difference that actually makes in real terms I can't say. Do a search - I'm sure this amp has been recommended as a good small steel amp. Pity you're not here in England - I'm selling mine...

The Stage 160 is similar to the discontinued Stage 112SE, except it has two 12" speakers. I like the 112 for it's size, but for the $500 you'll probably pay for the 160, you can probably find a better steel amp. I suspect it's practically the same amp as the 112, only with 2 speakers. The 112 was rated (in the factory service literature) at 118 watts with the single speaker, and 160 watts with an extension speaker. (The 160 amp has no provision for an extension speaker.)

Jeff has a Stage 160 at the theater that I've played through before. It's there if you want to try it out. JC
