sho bud amp

Hey guys.Can someone tell me about this amp?It is a sho bud with the sliders instead of knobs,it also has 15jbl.What is the differance in this amp and the other sho buds.Better,worse,same?Does anyone the wattage of this amp?Does anybody even like these?Thanks.Tom

I had one of those, but when it broke, kept the speaker and sold it. It is a loud and harsh thing.

About 80W RMS or so. Heavy to tote (poor power-to-weight ratio). Not as good tonewise as it should be. THD percentage too high for a solid-state amp. Slider knobs prone to break off, thereafter adjustable only with a car key or jackknife blade. Not good looking. Useless VU meter, unless your eyes are on flexible stalks protruding from the back of your head or you play with your amp on the floor facing you and close enough to see the needle on the meter. Overpriced and over-rated when new, now it's close to 30 years old and so are most of its electronic components such as the filter caps, I betcha.
This is not my favorite amplifier as you can tell. Good JBL speaker though.

I'm sorry to say,,, but I agree with Tim. I bought one in the mid-1970's when they first appeared, and it was a dissapointment. However, the earlier model (knob type) solid state Sho-Bud's have great tone and are still highly valued. I have to agree with Tim and Duane on that particular Sho-Bud amp as well. However, on the same token, the Sho-Bud "Christmas Tree" amp was indeed another story. Not much going for it in the power catagory, but man what a sound these amps have! One of the best around for studio work.
