Question for Keith Hilton

Post by Ken Fox »

Keith, I recently got a "Doug Jernigan" model digital sustain. It played alright for a while, but now distorts guite a bit, I have to keep the control almost off to eliminate the distortion. By passing the unit eliminates the distortion. My hookup is Sierra Steel to sustainer then to volume pedal then to Profex II. I suspect maybe the wrong power supply was given to me. It says 12VDC. Under load it measures 16VDC with virtually no ripple. When I got the unit it had old dead batterys. I noticed that on batterys are wired for 18VDC. Any ideas? Do you repair these? I have another friend with one that I tried and I think it is a super device!!

You'll be even better when you get your Digital Sustain back. I love mine.

I played one a friend has. It's unbelievable how it cleans the "garbage" out of the sound from a typical pick-up. The difference is like comparing the tone of a small spinet to grand piano!
