Nifty little amp...
Tonight at band practice one of the guitar players showed up with a new amplifier, a Fender 1000 "RocPro". This is a solid state amp with a "tube drive" preamp. It is the same physical size as a Deluxe Reverb, but has a little more power, maybe 40 watts, thru one 12" speaker. Sounded real good with electric guitar, so when we got done I asked him if I could try it with my steel. He said sure, go ahead and see what she'll do. I used the clean channel, volume about 5, bass about 8, mids about 5, treble about 5, reverb on 7. Played the tune "La Golondrina". Wow! AWESOME huge sound, a lot like a Mesa Boogie playing clean. Wish I had one! He told me that this amp lists for a little over $400.00 but he got a pretty good discount. He said he went into the music store to buy a new screen ball for his SM-58 mic and bought the amp on impulse! Not bad, eh wot?

Sounds cool. I never plugge in to a RocPro. I think they are the ugliest amps fender ever made. Comes close to Peavey...

Tim,
If you like the rock pro 1000 you'd better get one while you can. Fender has discontinued the amp. The pump out a pretty healthy 100 watts RMS through a single 12" speaker and can run an extension cab the also have an effects loop with a mix control.
The Amp lists for around 600 (top of my head) I have one left at the music store that I manage here in Coldwater. If you're interested Call me after 10 At (517) 278-4060
I need to move it to make room for the new stuff.

Hi Ed!
Thanks for your response. Well I didn't realize they put out 100 watts RMS. Just goes to show, 100 solid-state watts sound like 50 tube watts, as has been said many times. $600.00 list sounds way steep for my budget right now. I'm used to "Peavey" prices and still always have to buy used and pay cash. I don't begrudge any dealer their markup, but reckon I'll have to pass (darn it) unless you are really looking to clear it out unrealistically cheap, because I've got a wife and teenagers and could never justify spending $600.00 for a small amp at this time in my life. I'm sure you understand. But do try your RocPro with your steel, I do think you'll be amazed at the great sound of this amp (in the clean mode).

Say, guys -- check this out. A Roc Pro for $300. I have no connection to it other than I just saw it a few minutes ago and am passing it on here. Click here: Fender Discussion Page (Buy, sell, trade section), Stretch-seller, Feb. 23, p.m. posting. Sorry if this didn't come out as I intended. Just find the Fender Discussion Page & go from there.
