What are your favorite tone settings for a Peavey Session 40

Post by Slim Lattimer »

I've been mostly playing out with my Fender Vibrosonic, and playing at home through my Session 400 and Reno 400. When I have taken the Peaveys out, they don't seem to be able to cut through as well as the Fender without sounding rather muddy. I'd like to experiment with some new settings. In addition I sometimes use my Lexicon MPX 100 for a little delay. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Slim;
I copied down Buddy's settings on his Session 400 LTD at the Everly show in April.
They were:
Bass: 3 o'clock. Mid: 11 o'clock. Shift: 1 o'clock. Highs: 1 o'clock. Pres: 1 o'clock.
For his Nashville and Vegas 400 settings and more click: Here!
Good luck!!

Ernie,
since no amp settings are concrete depending upon variables such as brand and type of guitar(wood or formica), pickups, in-line affects,even acoustics, etc, which guitar was Buddy playing? Was he playing the LeGrande or the push/pull at the time? Did it have the humbuckers or the single coils, was he using any effects? All of these can have an affect on what another person might use for their preference in sound.Could you enlighten us a little further for those who may or may not use the same equipment? Thanks

Dave

Dave;
Those settings were with his Everly stage gear: Emmons Lashley LeGrande III (w/stock Emmons pickups), a Goodrich Matchbro, a Goodrich volume pedal and a Lexicon MPX1 effects processor. I assume the cables were George L's. The strings were also George L's.
Hope this helps!

Thanks Ernie. It can really be helpful sometimes knowing those little details that some us might take for granted.
