Sho~Bud Pickup problem......
I have stock pickups on my '78' Pro III and last nite at the church gig I lost the signal out of the guitar. Thinking it was probably just a bad cord, I began the process of elimination of cords then the volume pedal(Goodrich120)and effects(ME-8). When I ran the guitar straight into the Webb GP, I had a clear & loud signal. Are my pickups bad and not putting out what they are suppossed to, signal output so low it is being consumed by volume pedal/effects? Any way to test the pickups? New pickups, rewind old?

Kevin, how could it be your pickups if you ran a cord from the guitar to the amp and it worked great? If it was your pickup it would not of worked even with a straight cord? I can't understand why you think it is your pickup? The problem must be in cords, effect unit, or the pedal--in that order. Use the process of elimination. Hope this helps.

Kevin, cords and the pedal will not consume the signal from the pickup unless they are bad. There "will" be a pre-amp in your effect unit, so it should be adding signal, instead of comsuming it. I would do some more experimenting before I changed out the pickup. Check the nut that holds the cord jack on the end plate of the guitar. Years ago, I played a Sho Bud, and that nut kept coming loose and I would lose signal.
