Try a "Factory Reset". That seems to clear out a lot of wierd problems on these units.
To do a reset, unplug the power transformer, while holding down the Play and Global buttons plug the power transformer back in. This will reset or initilize the unit.
CAUTION! This will erase the user memory programs....

Wolfgang,
Mine did exactly the same thing. I started getting that message about 3 weeks ago. It would re-set itself and work fine. Then it stopped downloading the programs as it apparently got worse. I contacted Mike Brown at Peavey who suggested the same thing that Jack mentioned. It helped, but still doesn't work correctly. As Jack mentioned, it does re-set the unit back to it's origianl programs so you will loose the Newman programs if you have them.
I found someone locally who is a Peavey repair tech and I took it in last Saturday. I should know in a couple of days what it will take to repair it and I'll pass the info on to you.
Fortunity, I bought a Transtube fex as a back up. It arrived the day before my Profex went bad. What luck huh?

About 16 months ago my PROFEX II was doing the same thing and since it was still under warranty I mailed it off to Peavey. The INTENAL BATTARY inside the PROFEX (not the ram card) was D.O.A., Peavey replaced the battery and did a systems checked of the unit. Within a total of two weeks I and the unit back and running.
Thanks Peavey job well done.
