Session 500 weight?

Will someone tell me what a Session 500 mark iv with a 15 inch BW weighs? I have no scales at home, and the truck stop's closed.

I'd guess somewhat less than 1,000 pounds, but I could be wrong.

My Session 500 is not a "Mark IV", but is probably the same otherwise. It has a 15" black widow and was purchased new around 1983 or so. I weighed mine on medical scales and it was around 81 or 82 pounds.

Thanks Steve,80 pounds is a lot heavy'er than it was 20 years ago.When you get to be 40 you'll know what I mean.

I saw one on eBay tonight and the ad said it weighed less than a Twin Reverb. Maybe one without JBL's?!?

What did the Mark IV signify? The only 500's I ever saw said Mark IV on the front.

I take that back. I saw one of the very first ones, that was in the shorter cabinet. I don't believe it said Mark IV on the front.

One other thing. Peavey's literature stated that you could get a 500 with one 18" speaker. Has anyone ever seen one of those beasts?

I had a twin and thought I'd got to the solid state Session 500 because it would be lighter. Right! I couldn't really tell any difference. I had one of the original models with the smaller cabinet, but it had a helluva sound. I finally sold it when the factory modified Nashville 400's came out.

I have a Twin 110, piggy-back with JBL's. They both wiegh about two tons! Yeah, after 40, you do begin to notice these little nuances!

I have one of the early short-cabinet Session 500's and it weighs just over 80# which is a bit heavier than a stock Twin Reverb. I almost never carry it by the handle for fear I will hurt my hand. However, a Twin with the Fender Lifetime speakers (gold) or a pair of 12" JBL's will outweigh the Session 500 by a few pounds because I've carried them before too. Like Billy sez, yes the short-cabinet 500 is powerhouse of an amp. Kenny Gill and I were working a show together in 1999 and he used my 500. His exact words were "this amp's a monster!"

As to the Session 500 with the 18" speaker, yes a few were made in the early design. They look the same as mine but the cabinet is a little taller. A lady steeler here in Michigan has one that she plays her old crossover Sho-Bud thru. I plugged my stock push-pull Emmons into it one time just to check it out and did not care for the tone. No way I could adjust it to please my ears. Her Sho-Bud sounds OK thru it though.

I had one of the original small cabinet models and it was just a "Session 500". No LTD or any other extra identification.

Boy, I sure feel for all you "kids" having to carry the old 500..Wait till you hit 65!! and tote it onto those stages with 3-4 steps.

But they still sound the best to me..

The amp I'm thinking about is called a Session 500 Limited.I think they where made in the late 80's.Has anyone seen one of these or did I imagine this?

I have a session 500, and I love it. I ain't 65, but I'm gettin' there. Even if I have to rent a forklift to get it to a gig I'll be happy.

The "Session 500" was 300 watts right? so the "500" must have stood for 500 pound. By the way got one for sale check buy and sell. By the way I am not pricing it by the pound.
