Everybody seems to be talking about Mark's cut on "Lost In The Feeling". I haven't heard it yet but I'm sure Paul did a great job on the steel parts. Another song from a different album by Mark is the old Johnny Bush and Jimmy Day cut on "What A Way To Live". Paul does a super job on Mark's version. I hear a lot of the Jimmy Day voicings but yet, they are original with respect to Pauls great taste and talent.

I just saw this video on CMT. Paul did sound great. My comment on the video is the footage of Conway is his 70's hairdo while that particuler song came out after he got the perm.

Kenny please excuse me for drifting off topic a little, but Janice mentioned something that has always upset me. How hard would it be in these videos, biographys, and documentarys to match proper time-frame pictures with the era and artist they are refering too? If the people doing it don't know, then why not spend a couple extra dollars and hire someone to consult, who does. I think Paul did a fine job on "Lost In The Feelin'". But, in my mind; it will always be John Hughey's song, that he let Conway sing a little bit on!!

Tommy, I agree that those of us that can remember the originals regardless of song selection should applaud the new kids/guys on the block that thought enough of an artist's material to cover the original. This to me is one reason the GOO is losing some of its connection to the "roots" so to speak. The cover tunes of older artist as well as the tribute albums in my estimation is one of the things that will keep the opry from dying. And while we are talking about steel oriented materal, I think that Paul and the new/younger players that are doing the sessions and the road work are to be commended for doing their homework. I have yet to hear on record anything less than excellent from a new PSG player.

Could be you and I both have rambled away from the topic subject.

Tommy, after re-reading your post, I realize that your question was totally different than what I replied to. I do AGREE with you about that particular song. It was Conway singing on John's instrumental.

I just saw the video. Hat's off to Mark and the musician's. I believe Conway would be honored for the tribute! Nice job! Theresa

I agree that Mark and the musicians did a good job. It does not, IMHO, surpass the original version by Conway. I am, however, glad that it was recorded and released. It exposes a great song and pedal steel guitar to an audience that, maybe, would not have otherwise heard it.

Well said Tommy. I am prejudiced on John Hughey/ Conway Twitty issues myself. It doesn't surpass the original. However Mark in his own right is one of the greats. For instance, years ago he and Garth recorded the same material and I don't remember the name of the song, but I do remember that I thought Mark just blew Garth away.

Bill ,I'm not sure if this the song your refering to that Mark sang,But he like Garth also recorded Freinds in Low Place's.

BJ - Your right! I'm getting old. I bet I've had to play that song 10,000 times with cover bands. But thats the one. I just don't recognize songs by name anymore. Mark just tore up Garth's tail on that cut. I think Garth was OK but I just like Mark's sound over all.
