On Monday, June 12th,the 2nd Annual Golden Voice Awards were held in Opryland Hotel's Governor's Ballroom. As Steve Wariner said, "This is real country music right here." Steve was present to accept an award for vocalist legacy given to Dottie West. The Awards were as follows:

Male Vocalist-Gene Watson
Male Vocalist (Legacy)-Marty Robbins
Female Vocalist-Skeeter Davis
Female Vocalist (Legacy)-Dottie West
Group-The Browns
Group (Legacy)-The Wilburns
Bluegrass-Mac Wiseman
Bluegrass (Legacy)-Lester Flatt
Radio Personality-Hairl Hensley
Servant of the Year-David McCormick
Entertainer of the Year-Ferlin Husky
Career Achievement-Little Jimmy Dickens
Golden Circle-Charlie Lamb
Musician Awards-Leon Rhodes, Benny Martin, Larrie London, Roy Huskey Sr., Floyd Cramer & Buddy Emmons.
  
More than 700 people attended the event, with money raised earmarked for the Performers Benefit Fund, which aids senior performers in paying hospital bills and other medical expenses. According to event organizer, Bettie Crook-Walker, the awards are voted on by about 100 electors, 71 of whom are members of the Grand Ole Opry.
